There are some very nice winter chinooks lurking in southern van isle waters these days. The boat is ready to roll. Shoot me a message and we can organize a date. Hot set up for me this past week was the Gibbs pro series chartreuse Watermark flasher with a Gfroce 3.0 Irish cream spoon. It is my favourite setup at this time of year.
My super happy guest with his first chinook he’s ever caught and boy did he ever set the bar high with a beautiful slab of a fish. Officially weighed in at Island Outfitters at a whopping 40.2 pounds. Unfortunately this fish took the hooks deep and was bleeding very badly so releasing it wasn’t an option although it would have been our first choice to do so. Big fish month has officially started here on the shores of Port Renfrew. Oki gold Betsy flash...
What a surprise when my guest hooked an 18 pound spring while jigging for coho on a trout rod today!!! An epic battle ensued while almost getting spooled a few times. As the fish slid into the the net the barbless hook popped out of the fishes mouth. What a memory!!! We were jigging a 2 ounce Delta Half Jig, it also smashed the cohos today!
Some beautiful fish have hit the shores of Port Renfrew lately. The largest fish aboard the “Want On” this season topped the scales at 35 pounds today. Anchovies in Rhys Davis chrome teaser heads and Gibbs pro series Madi flashers were all that was needed for the all day action with numerous hook ups.
